From Glamping Gift Vouchers to Microlight Flights - Our Somerset Glamping Gift Guide 2024

A string of white and silver Christmas baubles

Yup, it’s that time of year again, when the festive season hurtles towards us like an unstoppable freight train. Thoughts of battling with angry Christmas shoppers are enough to put the fear into the best of us. If you know a lover of the great outdoors, then you’re in luck, for there are plenty of fabulous gifts out there to satisfy the hard-core happy camper or glamping greenhorn in your life.

A glamping gift voucher is the obvious place to start (presumably they’ll have to take you along too, so #winwin), but there’s plenty of gift ideas to choose from. This year I'm going to focus on vouchers and experiences, as these are super easy to buy (no searching for parking and braving the crowds) and offer the chance for an unforgettable day out.

So, grab a mulled wine, cozy up by the log burner and read on for glamping gifts galore in our ultimate gift guide for 2024.

Glamping Getaways Under the Stars:

With our second luxury shepherd hut opening in spring 2025, I had to start right here. For the happy camper who has it all, why not treat them to a glamping gift voucher? Time away to unplug and unwind? Check. Peace, quiet and the sound of birdsong brightening up your day? Check. Unforgettable evenings toasting marshmallows under a starry sky? Check, check, check.

Here at Marsh Farm Glamping we really do have the most incredible sunsets, and our outdoor roll-top baths are the perfect way to watch the sun go down. You’ll also have your very own private meadow, BBQ and fire-pit. With a king-sized bed, en-suite rainfall shower and Hobbit log burner, there's really no need to go anywhere else once you arrive. We even have a fantastic local pub, organic farm shop and cafe all within walking distance.

We offer glamping gift vouchers for any amount from £30 upwards, to put towards a stay in one of our beautiful, secluded shepherd huts. Click here for all the info you need and for the perfect Christmas stocking filler.

If you do manage to tear yourself away from the meadow, there are plenty of fun and fabulous local things to do, that can also be booked as gifts:

Microlight Flight – A short 20 minute drive from the farm is Westonzoyland Airfield, where you can take flight for 30, 45 or 60 minutes over the local area. You can even take the controls for part of the flight. And if you’re wondering where the name Westonzoyland comes from, well I can’t answer that, but taking the Somerset Lingo Quiz might help you with our local dialect!

For something a little more sedate, how about trying your hand at pottery painting, courtesy of the Kiln Café in Langport? As they themselves say: ‘Slow down, unwind and let your imagination run wild’. They have a great selection of bisque pieces to paint, and are also on hand with teas, coffees and cakes. And if you have something to celebrate, they’re fully licenced too. They also do gift vouchers, so why not pair up a glamping gift voucher with a pottery painting experience for the perfect postal present?

PS if you want to buy some stunning local pottery that you don’t have to paint yourself, do check out our interview with local artisan potter Rob Ellis here:

For a truly bucolic experience, why not hire a tandem bike from our very own Somerset Tandem Hire right here in the village, and cycle over to Smith and Evans Vineyard for a self-guided vineyard tour followed by wine tasting? That definitely sounds like the perfect Chrimbo combo to me.

If you really want to kick back and relax, and enjoy the stunning Somerset scenery in style then how about a steam train ride? The East Somerset Railway is a wonderfully nostalgic way to travel, and not only do they offer everything from cream teas to Sunday lunch on board, but they also offer driving experiences too. Although they don’t do gift vouchers for the driving experiences, they do for their dining experiences, and every purchase supports the preservation of these historically important locomotives.

The West Somerset Railway offers a different route through the countryside but also has a host of festive events taking place on board. Enjoy a tipple or two with the Festive Spirit Train, a Sherry and Mince Pie or even sing along on the Carol Train.

Finally, why not combine a gift experience with a delicious treat? Brown and Forrest Smokery, in nearby Hambridge specialise in the finest hot and cold smoked foods, from trout to cheese. They have a wonderful café and also, wait for it, offer gift vouchers! A true taste of Somerset indulgence, right there.

So there we have it. Why not combine a glamping gift voucher with a local experience and give the gift of unforgettable memories this Christmas.
